I have read day 3 of postal rate increase, and as my husband is a rural carrier find all the info interesting to say the least. on pages 60 - 135 , he tells me how the po is screwing the mailers by breaking open the presorted bundles and running them thru the machines, watch takes him longer to case. The reason is to get the numbers up on the machine mail. Makes someone look good. Letter DPS mail is ok but still needs some work before we go to flats. I noticed that several times no one had read the OIG report, well, I read it and it said flat sorters were not doing well. They don't need a rate insrease but a good house cleaning! You have 20 people that decide whats happening for the whole country. Like Machines in HW, AL, what a waste. I know for a fact that in KCMO the machine is still on the floor not assembled, for more than a year. I do how ever think that moving more small offices to larger is a good thing, if they don't screw it up. Right now no one has any direction its in the air. Too many things that are simple are over looked. Increase package services on SAT, incnclude Sun if needed. Make the customer # 1. They don't do that or have the mind set to do so. I would hire a cpo, maybe a wash out and get this great service back on its feet. They don't charge enough for the other services. forwarding, vacation hold, etc. look at other ways to get revenue. Stop letting people who don't touch the mail make the choices.
